- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, April 27 - 2003 at 12:11
- PRESS RELEASE
Standard Chartered Bank today brings unprecedented new levels of personalisation and customer service to the highly competitive credit card market in the UAE.
The new Standard Chartered Gold Cards offer enhanced rewards and unique benefits to customers.
Ray Ferguson, Standard Chartered Bank's Chief Executive Officer for the UAE, said "The Standard Chartered Gold card sets a new benchmark for customer service and interaction in the UAE. It is appropriate that we are launching such a ground breaking product during this, our 150th year. As we continue to expand our branch network in the UAE, it is also fitting that we extend our service to a level that exceeds normal customer expectations."
Personalised Gold Privileges associated with the cards are categorised into five sections - travel, sports, entertainment, fitness and free gifts - each of which lends itself to personal choices by the customer.
Subroto Som, Regional Head of Consumer Banking, Standard Chartered MESA, said: "The new Standard Chartered Gold Card offers a variety of benefits in addition to the existing ones that customers have come to expect of a core credit card. In particular, it is unique because it presents our customers with the opportunity to personalise their benefits and privileges according to their individual requirements."
Card holders can also now redeem their SCB Companion Points (the Bank's reward programme) for air tickets and travel privileges with DNATA.
Explaining the significance of the new Cards, Ray Ferguson said "This ground breaking feature had been driven by the result of a six-month long survey conducted by the Bank to assess the needs and requirements of high-net worth individuals.
"The UAE is a melting pot of over 150 nationalities, and our aim was to understand and address cross-cultural customer requirements. We have achieved this by recognising cultural boundaries and in the process, we are both anticipating and responding to the needs of each of our customers".
"The Standard Chartered Gold Card sets an aspirational 'Gold Standard' of living in the UAE," he concluded.
The Standard Chartered Gold Card has an annual fee of Dhs500 and comes with two free supplementary cards. As an introductory offer, Gold Card holders will have a choice of free gift, in addition to claiming all the benefits of the card with immediate effect.
Existing Gold Card members can choose to upgrade to the new version upon renewal of membership or earlier. Application forms and details are available at all Standard Chartered banks in the UAE.
Standard Chartered is currently one of the leading card issuers in the UAE.
