MPs demand Bahrain petrol hike clarification
- Bahrain: Thursday, December 24 - 2009 at 09:12
The Bahraini parliament has asked two cabinet ministers to confirm or deny a media report about a possible increase in petrol prices in the kingdom by 20% - 25%. Twenty-four MPs have signed a petition demanding an urgent discussion on the issue. One of the ministers, Abdulaziz Al Fadhel, has refused to say whether or not the report is true. "MPs shouldn't be led by what is published in the Press, because it could be a proposal, which may have been approved or rejected, or is currently being studied," he told Gulf Daily News. He added that MPs can discuss the matter with the Finance and Oil and Gas Affairs ministers, where 'everything would be clarified'.
