JW Marriott Dubai appoints Hector Mendonca as Food and Beverage Manager, Thomas Inasu as Beverage Manager

JW Marriott Dubai has recently announced that Hector Mendonca, Director of Events Management, will also take on a new role as the hotel's Food and Beverage Manager. In his new capacity, Hector will still continue to oversee the Events by JW department.

Bringing with him more then 30 years of experience and professionalism in the hospitality industry, Hector has gained vast knowledge by working in several established 5-star hotels in the Middle East. Hector began his career in 1977 as a waiter in Oberoi Sheraton, Bombay in India then a year after he went to the Middle East and joined the Andalus Hotel in Sharjah. With his diligence and perseverance he went to Bahrain and quickly worked his way up from a waiter to a restaurant captain at the Holiday Inn.

In 1984, Hector moved to Gulf Hotel Bahrain as an Assistant Beverage Supervisor. He was later transferred to Royal Abjar Hotel, Dubai which is now called the Renaissance Dubai in 1992 as a Beverage Manager. In 1993, he was proud to be part of the opening team of the JW Marriott Dubai. He first started as a Supervisor in the Champions Sports Bar and then climbed the ladder as Catering Maitre d' and Catering Service Manager. Hector proved to be a valuable asset to the hotel and it is no doubt that in 2004 he was promoted to Director of Event Management. Hector has also played a pivotal role in winning several local and international awards for the events department. In his recent role as Food & Beverage Manager, he will assist the hotel's director of Food & Beverage in the daily food & beverage operations and create new and exciting promotions for the hotel. With his in-depth knowledge of food & beverage, Hector is well ready and capable of managing the hotel's 12 eclectic restaurants as well as for the entire events, weddings and banqueting for JW Marriott Dubai.

JW Marriott Dubai is also pleased to announce that Thomas Inasu has been recently promoted to Beverage Manager.

Thomas began his career in the food & beverage department as a supervisor in room service at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbour Hotel, USA, in 2004. Looking for greener pastures, he made his way to the Millennium Hotel in Sharjah, UAE in 2005 and worked as a restaurant manager. In 2007, he joined the JW Marriott Dubai as a restaurant manager for The Market Place and Hofbräuhaus. Mid last year, Thomas took charge of the Champions Sports Bar and had gone for extensive training at the MMI bar academy in Dubai.

With his recent promotion, Thomas will assist the hotel's Director of Food & Beverage to oversee the beverage promotions for the hotel.

Thomas had also experience in the front office and customer service before he took keen interest in food & beverage. He was attached to the General Electric Capital International Services in Haryana, India in 2001 and later as a Night Auditor in Le Meridien in Kerala, India in 2002. He was also at The Trident Hilton in 2004 as a senior Night Auditor and Trainer.
