Dubai Airport Freezone based German product a hit with Middle East customers

The original concept of the Shape-CD today includes a whole family of intelligent and innovative product applications which include CD, CD-ROM CD Audio, DVD5 and DVD9, DVD Rom and Dual Disc, HD and Blue Ray Disc and customized USB same as Shape CD/DVD's.

"The family business which began in Hamburg, Germany in 2006 now sells Dhs600m worth of CDs a year or 100 million CDs a year in 27 countries around the world," said Mr. Roman W. Wildberger, Regional Manager of Shape-CD at the Dubai Airport Freezone. "Our company manufactures the machines that produce the Shape CD and we work with partners to produce the Shape-CDs. In the Middle East we work with partners in Iran, Kuwait and Syria."

In Dubai, the company has business partners in Ghusais and in Deira for the local production. Despite challenging times work continued and the business remained profitable. To keep up with technology the company launched Customized USB two years ago.

Mr. Wildberger said the choice to base the company's branch office at the Dubai Airport Freezone was due to the fact that the Freezone had a good location in the heart of Dubai. "With a state of the art infrastructure which makes us more productive."

He added that Shape-CD also has many partners in Abu Dhabi. "The company's future plans are to focus on B to B and sell rights to agents and partners and manufacture machines."

In the New Year, the company would be concentrating more on building more machines and to diversify into manufacturing sports equipment machinery and to participate in sports equipment exhibitions in Munich in February 2010, and to manufacture machinery for Shape-CD in Dubai.
