The new storage medium's menu and referencing system ensures immediate access to any topic. The DVD has been optimised for COMAND APS, thus ensuring that it can be used while on the move. The disc can also be played in a home DVD player.

"The intelligent concept of the electronic instruction manual means that drivers can very quickly familiarise themselves with the sophisticated technical systems of the E-Class and the way they work," said Steffen Baumann, Sales and Markeing Director, Mercedes-Benz Car Group, Dubai. "Every detail is precisely described and every question clearly answered - in pictures, words and with spoken explanations."

A straightforward menu system allows the car owner to select specific topics of interest. It is, for example, possible to call up an overview of all controls that can be accessed from the driver's seat. More than 20 items can be activated from this graphic menu, which then lead on to show detailed operational advice as well as important safety and environmental tips.

It is possible to call up specific features of the vehicle by using the search system. If a search word is entered, the DVD will also provide explanations for a whole range of specialist technical automotive terms.

The new DVD instruction manual, with its clear, logical structure, will soon be available in other passenger car series.
