Food hygiene and basic health and safety within the catering industry a big attraction at Food and Hospitality Expo

TUV NORD, Bahrain had Over 190 applicants registered for a workshop to learn about the requirements of the International Food Safety Management Systems Standards, held during the first day at Food and Hospitality Expo 2010.

The event which was opened on Tuesday by the HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa , The Prime Minister of Bahrain organized by Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority (BECA), is being held at the Bahrain International Convention Centre (BEICC) from 12-14th January and has 82 exhibitors.

TUV NNORD has partnered with BECA to offer its support and will be conducting workshops helping people to learn about how to comply with the requirements of the International Food Safety Management System Standard during the three-day premier, international food and hospitality event.

Basic Food Hygiene, Basic Health and Safety for Catering Industry, Critical Control Points are some of the topics that will be discussed at the workshops which aim to raise safety standards designed to ensure the safety of products, activities and processes utilized daily in the food industry and and preserve consumer confidence in the products of the food industry in Bahrain.

said Hassan Jaffer Mohamed, BECA.

"TUV Nord's participation not only enhanced the Expo, but also added a dimension of training to this very busy event," he added.

In only its second year, the Food and Hospitality Expo has more than doubled in size with leading companies and organizations such as TUV Middle East, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coca-Cola, Tamkeen (Labour Fund), Babasons, Bahrain Modern Mills, Bahrain Airport Services, Noor Al Bahrain, The Diplomat Radissson, Hotel, Moevenpick Hotel and The Regency Inter.Continental Hotel and local farmers and small businesses all taking part.

"Food & Hospitality Expo serves as a strategic platform for those in the food, beverage and hospitality business to buy from each other and network to exchange ideas optimizing opportunities for exhibitors and retailers. We are very happy to support this event and add value by introducing our quality training element which are available for all to study and implement within their own premises," said Mr Jamal Al Baeejan), President of TUV NORD.

The success of the Expo is already clear with many exhibitors have already signed up again for next year's event, some taking larger spaces than this year. It looks as though the Food and Hospitality Expo 2011 will, once again, increase in size and is building to become one of the regions premier events.
