A green energy era could indeed become a renaissance for the developing world, says Icelandic President

The audience of the closing ceremony of the World Future Energy Summit, attended by HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, left with the words of His Excellency Olafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland, and H.S.H Prince Albert Louis Pierre, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, Marquis of Baux in the forefront of their minds.

The Icelandic President, said:
"The time for lengthy debates and dialogue is over. Now it is action that must bring us together, and that is the mission of Masdar, the World Future Energy Summit and Abu Dhabi. With the momentum that we have gathered at this Summit, we will go forward from this place inspired and determined to succeed. Since the first Summit, the progress has been remarkable."


His Excellency emphasised that when carbon tax comes into effect, countries with renewable energy sources will have a strategic advantage. Indeed he continued, a green energy era could become a renaissance for the developing world due to the abundance of solar and geothermal sources.

Also addressing the closing ceremony of the Summit, Prince Albert said, "We cannot go on with 20% of the world's population using 80% of the world's resources. We are facing a financial, humanitarian and environmental crisis. It is one of the greatest challenges of this century."
