Danzas helps Emirates Airline Foundation to fly high

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 26 - 2010 at 16:31
  • PRESS RELEASE

Danzas, the operating name for DHL Global Forwarding in the region, has reiterated its commitment to supporting the global communities in which it operates through a significant annual sponsorship of the Emirates Airline Foundation. The donation will support the production of the on-board donation envelopes for a period of one year.

Danzas, as part of the DHL Group of companies, offers complete end-to-end solutions for the aviation sector and has been a partner of choice for Emirates Airlines for over a decade.

According to Enver Moretti, CEO/President EMA DHL Global Forwarding, the Danzas partnership with Emirates Airline is a natural extension of the core values of both partners to operate globally as socially responsible corporate entities.

"As part of DHL, we are the world's leading logistics company with about 500,000 employees around the world. As such, we have a special responsibility to use our core expertise to the benefit of society and to continuously minimize our impact on the environment and support sustainable local communities," said Moretti.

Emirates Airline Foundation's envelopes, are available to all passengers on-board the fleet of aircrafts that fly to all corners of the globe; covering an average of more than 500 million kilometers annually. All Emirates' passengers can use the envelopes to make donations that finance humanitarian projects, helping children in need all over the world.

The Chairman of the Foundation, Tim Clark, has expressed his appreciation to Danzas for their support and explained, "The donations by Emirates' passengers contribute to the improvement of the condition of deprived children across our network."

Donations were recently used to finance a home for HIV positive children in Chennai, India. Other noteworthy projects are a hospital ship in Bangladesh which was launched in November last year, where more than 25,000 women and children have been treated free of cost to date; another home for girls from remote tribal communities in India and the provision of basic supplies for orphanages in Africa, Sri Lanka and India.

Explains Moretti, "In this instance the Danzas/Emirates collaborative approach has a social responsibility objective; to help to support vulnerable communities across the globe. Commercially however, as much as 70% - 80% of airline costs relate to the supply chain and the Danzas approach represents a fundamental shift to consider airlines' requirements as a total end-to-end process. This frame of reference enables Danzas to work closely with airlines to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, product selections and reduce costs that ultimately impact positively on their customer's customer."

Danzas offers comprehensive aerospace and aviation service solutions including supply chain and logistical support from the provision of food catering and in-flight entertainment, including aircraft spares right through to the final mile delivery to the aircraft, and returns management.
