  • PRESS RELEASE

Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) continues its expansion into the digital media content landscape and kicks off the new digital decade by adding another reading access point to its multi-platform content distribution scheme. The company announced that its flagship English-language newspaper, The National, is now offered on Kindle, the most wished for, the most gifted, and the #1 best selling product across the millions of products sold on Amazon.

Kindle, a revolutionary reading device and one of the most innovative businesses at Amazon, allows consumers access to wirelessly download and read from a selection of over 300,000 books, magazines and newspapers, including prestigious newspapers such as The Times, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

The National's launch on Kindle is a natural progression of ADMC's digital strategy, designed to broaden its digital offerings and pursue new digital content delivery channels, making the company the first Middle East publisher to digitize and distribute its content to global partners such as Amazon.

"We are excited to be collaborating with Amazon to advance our strategy of expanding access to our premium digital content to the widest possible audience. The computer is no longer the single entry-point for digital editions, and with Kindle publishers have an exciting platform to reach their audiences. This collaboration marks a significant step towards the future of our digital content delivery", said Ricky Ghai, Executive Director of Digital Media at ADMC.

Gavin Dickinson, Executive Director of Publishing at ADMC commented:"The National continues to lead the transformation of journalism in the region by expanding the reach of its quality content across multiple channels. We are pleased to offer our audiences yet another reading experience. The convergence of our print and web-based content readers with Kindle's offers us an exciting outlook, on a global basis."

Kindle DX with Global Wireless, the latest from a family of purpose-built wireless reading devices from Amazon, began shipping to over 100 countries this last January. Kindle DX wirelessly downloads books, magazines, newspapers and personal documents to a crisp, high-resolution 9.7-inch electronic ink display that looks and reads like real paper.
