Zain Kuwait launches 'Zain Dewaniya SMS Service'

Zain , the leading mobile telecommunications company in Kuwait, has announced the launch of its newest service, 'Zain Dewaniya SMS', a new interactive service that offers the capability of collective instant interaction via SMS messaging.

The company said in a press release that the new service is inspired by Kuwait's traditional social networking system of Dewaniyah which is characterized by strong, close communication and interaction, pointing out that this service is a simulation of the real-life Dewaniyah, but here it is a mobile social Dewaniyah whose venue is wherever the customer goes.

Zain-Kuwait's Chief Commercial Officer, Mohammad Al-Shehab, said the new Dewaniya SMS service is a special service that enables Zain customers to create their own groups through which they can invite other Zain customers to be members within this group to exchange collective messages among themselves easily and at much lower cost than other usual mobile messaging channels.

"What distinguishes this service most is that it offers the ability of replying to all members of the group, as in e-mail messaging," Al-Shehab added, indicating that each group has one founder while the others are members within the group and a welcome message is to be sent to all group members whenever a new member joins the group.

Mr. Al-Shehab stressed that the launch of this service is intended to reinforce the company's efforts towards offering new and outstanding services in order to secure customer satisfaction, noting that the idea of establishing an SMS Dewaniya will satisfy a large segment of Zain customers through providing new features to the SMS for regular Dewaniya-goers and those who prefer to send collective messages to groups of people.

Whether the Zain Dewaniya SMS service is available for all to subscribe to it, Al-Shehab said, "All Zain prepaid and postpaid customers, whether individuals or companies, are eligible to create their own Zain Dewaniya groups."

Regarding the fees of the new service , Al-Shehab explained that Dewaniya SMS service is available for a weekly subscription fee which is to be paid by the founder of the group, while the cost of sending each SMS message by any member within the group.

Al-Shehab pointed out that the new service can be activated by sending (G Dewaniya_name) in a short message to the service number 99880 whereby a group will be created instantly, indicating that the minimum number of members allowed per group is three (two members in addition to the founding administrator) and the maximum number is 50 members per group.

Indicating that each Zain customer can create more than one group (unlimited number) while the subscription fee will remain the same regardless of the number of groups created, Mr. Al-Shehab went on to explain that the new service comes with a number of features similar to those of e-mail messaging, as the group administrator can block, freeze , remove or reject any member whenever he/she wishes.
