Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina looks forward to strengthen its economic ties with UAE

Trade between the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UAE has witnessed a sharp incease, reaching a total of EUR8m (Dhs42m) in the last two years.

"The UAE is the biggest business hub in the region and one of the most important trading hubs in the world. The Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina is looking forward to strengthen its economic ties with the UAE and further increase the trade between the two countries," said H.E. Radomir Kosic, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Abu Dhabi.

He added, "We are witnessing a fast and dynamic growth in our trade relationships with the UAE. The number of Emirati and GCC companies that entered the Bosnian market during the last 2 years has risen to 15, including three Government-owned companies."

Currently, GCC countries have investments worth more than Dhs360m in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some of the biggest are the investments of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Dubai Islamic Bank and Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah. Focusing on finance and real estate sectors, these banking organizations have increased their investment during the last year, by 90% from EUR25m to EUR45m by the end of 2009.

The first international investment conference, to be held in Sarajevo on April 6th and 7th, was organised by this group of investors.

Private and public organisations are expected to showcase the multi-billion dollar investment opportunities currently available in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in energy, water, natural resources, basic infrastructures, real estate, agriculture, tourism and other industries.

Mr. Rajab Tayeb Erdogan, the Turkish prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Former Prime Minister of Malaysia and other high-ranking officials, experts, decision makers and business leaders from the Arab and Islamic World will participate in the forum. H. H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Said Al Maktoum Chairman of Emirates airlines will attend the forum as the guest of hounor.
