Mr Al Shihhi said the Ministry of Economy is committed to make the national Charter as a base and main indicator for the Ministry's initiatives. He emphasized that the key components of this charter - ambitious and confident people who adhere to their heritage, a strong Union with common destiny, a competitive economy that is led by innovative and knowledgeable UAE nationals, and high quality life endowed with sustainable environment - aims at positioning the UAE at the pole position at the regional and international levels.
"We have a great responsibility in implementing our initiatives in line with the components of the national charter, and by transferring it into practical programmes and plans in order to convey its vision of making the UAE a top-notch destination by 2021 across all sectors. Our economy has already achieved tremendous progress and we are keen to develop this success across all levels,"
Al Shhihi added.
During the meeting, Mr Al Shhihi directed the Ministry's leadership team to commit to the national document and to translate their plans into tangible success. He said that the Ministry is keen to activate its operational plan for 2010 and has already started implementing major initiatives which aims at diversifying the economy. Diversifying the economy is part of the initiatives to ensure sustainable growth by activating new areas in the industrial and services sectors in order to build competitive edge economy and an attractive investment environment.
Mr Al Shihhi also highlighted that the UAE leadership is focused on building human resources as a key component for development and to shape UAE as a global center for knowledge-based economy. He said the Ministry will exert all efforts in 2010 to achieve this national target and assured that the Ministry will continue working to develop economic legislations, launching innovative economic initiatives and developing international relations as well as enhancing the participation of the UAE nationals in various vital sectors.
