Alison Weller, Managing Director of F&E Aerospace, commented:
"According to IATA, the Middle East region had the highest air passenger growth in the world at over 11 per cent last year and it stands to reason that in order to maintain that growth curve, the industry will require a pool of skilled manpower."
Weller added, "Similarly, with defence spending in the region set to surpass $100bn by 2014, we believe that ADTS will go a long way in meeting the needs of both the civil and military aerospace industry, by addressing issues at the conference and by using the exhibition as a platform where young people and their parents can discuss career opportunities with the various companies and institutes exhibiting."
During the two-day conference, representatives from the UAE's Air Arabia and Jordan's Ayla Aviation will discuss the issue of engaging youth in aviation, while experts from Airbus and Sweden's Oxford Aviation Academy will talk about the best technology and teaching methods available today.
In addition to Dubai-based training entities, such as the Emirates Aviation College, ADTS will feature international exhibitors such as Aviation Australia from Queensland and CAE of Montreal which has signed agreements to source, recruit and train more than 600 cadet pilots for Jazeera Airways, Kingfisher Airlines and Wizz Air over a four-year period to address the global pilot shortage.
According to the latest show registration figures, Aerospace Week is bringing together personnel from more than 80 airlines, over 200 exhibitors and up to 6,000 trade visitors.
Aerospace Week began on 28 February with the two-day Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) which includes workshops and an exhibition, showcasing cutting-edge design, innovative cabin fittings and technological advancements.
Running at the same time and location is MRO Middle East, the second edition of the successful maintenance, repair and overhaul conference and exhibition, presented by F&E Aerospace and Aviation Week.
Entrance to the ADTS exhibition is free and entrance to the conference is by online registration.
