"Having been the premier North Indian specialty restaurant in Oman for over 25 years, Mumtaz Mahal Restaurant is now looking at options of taking the name beyond the shores of Oman and franchising to interested parties through the FME 2010 platform is a strong possibility,"
said Gautam Moudgill, GM.
"The GCC market is an ocean of opportunities to our line of business and we would love to have Mumtaz Mahal Restaurant spread its wings across the GCC. We see this to be a profitable venture to all the investors as our name has gained a massive reputation in Oman already by having won many prestigious awards in various categories over the years," he added.
International franchise brand Subway is also looking to expand in the Middle East and Africa, adding to its already grand total of 276 franchise operations in the region.
Known for serving made-to-order submarine sandwiches and salads, the Subway chain has a worldwide reputation for offering a healthier alternative to traditionally fatty fast food. It is also a leader in non-traditional restaurant development with more than 7,000 locations found at many of the world's leading airports, universities, retailers, hospitals and park and recreational facilities, including many in the Middle East.
"With minimal equipment needs and space requirements that are extremely flexible, a Subway franchise is the perfect solution for many non-traditional facilities that want to bring in a branded fast food concept," said Beirut-based, Hisham Ghazal, Regional Marketing Manager for the Subway chain. "Participating in regional trade shows allows us to get our name out, send a clear message about our franchising opportunities, and create a greater awareness about our capabilities."
In addition to restaurants in major population centers and shopping destinations, the Subway chain has more than 60 non-traditional locations in its Middle East and Africa territory, which extends from Pakistan to South Africa. Examples of recently opened non-traditional locations in the region include Adhari Park in Bahrain, Ahlia University in Jordan, Muscat International Airport in Oman and Dubai Health Care City in the United Arab Emirates.
FME celebrates its seventh outing this year, pointing to the growing importance of franchising in the Middle East.
FME is the region's only exhibition that offers a world of exciting opportunities to international franchisers to access the thriving Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market and launch their franchise concepts.
The exhibition facilitates direct communication between entrepreneurs and potential franchise buyers from the region and beyond.
FME is the largest international franchise exhibition in the Middle East and is supported by the IFA (International Franchise Association).
FME 2010 takes place from March 2-4 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
