Commenting of the return of the iconic Challenger in Oman, General Manager of Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler Oman, Mark Tomlinson said:
"We are delighted in 2010 to bring Oman the return of the iconic Dodge Challenger SRT8 - a serious high performance car that remains true to the core principles of an exciting, yet affordable performance road car you can live in every day. As classic American muscle cars like the Challenger are home on the big empty highways of the great American outdoors, so are they home in Oman with the desert scenery of the Sultanate that ensures the ideal backdrop for the combination of raw power and driving comfort of the Challenger."
Chris Edwards, General Manager of Shanfari Automotive L.L.C also added: "Oman will enjoy this legend for the first time and I feel that this car will embrace the hearts and minds of the Omani consumers and set a new benchmark for excellence within this market for design and performance. The New Dodge Challenger, will, quite simply be the most entertaining and exhilarating car you ever own."
Speaking at the press conference, Jack Rodencal Managing Director of the Chrysler Group Middle East said: "As one of our markets in the Middle East, Oman proves to offer great potential for our brands, and the on-going commitment received from Zubair Automotive and Shanfari will ensure that our market share will continue to grow."
"As a company, the Chrysler Group has solid, well thought plans in place for the future, and this evening's launch of the stunning new Dodge Challenger SRT8 is just the beginning of a new chapter that will see us continuing to bring exciting, innovative and technologically advanced new products to all segments of the market in the years to come," he added.
Developed by Chrysler's in-house performance engineering organization, the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 was engineered with a focus on the five pillars of every SRT vehicle: A bold exterior design that resonates the brand image, a race-inspired interior, world-class ride and handling across a dynamic range with a standout power train and reliable breaking.
Each two-door, rear-wheel-drive coupe will be produced with a numbered dash plaque, carbon-fibre-like hood stripes and will be powered by SRT's 6.1-litre HEMI V8 engine that boasts 425 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
The model remains true to both its historical and modern concept car roots. A modern muscle car steeped in history featuring cutting-edge technology along with the latest safety features. The quality, technology, fit, finish and performance complete the modern muscle coupe.
The new Challenger is a two-door coupe with genuine five-passenger capability featuring Chrysler's proven rear-wheel-drive platform and complements the four-door Dodge Charger as well as the Chrysler 300C. Developed with Dodge's credo of 'bold, powerful and capable,' the Challenger delivers a modern two-door muscle car.
