Siemens Energy has received an order worth approximately EUR30m from Dubai-based Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) as part of power supply network expansion. The order from the United Arab Emirates covers the supply of a turnkey substation in Fujeirah, one of the northern emirates. Four substations will also be modernized there.
The turnkey substation for the 132- and 33-kilovolt (kV) voltage levels will be supplied together with Siemens transformers, protection equipment, and instrumentation and controls.
It will be erected in the town of Qidfa in the emirate of Fujeirah and will in the future strengthen the power supply network in the north of the United Arab Emirates.
Four existing substations will also be modernized in the same region. "We're pleased that our proven technology will be deployed to stabilize the power transmission network in the northern emirates," said Wolfgang Braun, regional head within the Power Transmission Division of Siemens Energy.
In total, Siemens will supply 10 bays 132-kV and 26 bays 33-kV for gas-insulated switchgear as well as two 90 MvA transformers from its production plants in Berlin, Dresden and Frankfurt.
