Bernhard Kern assumes post of Director of F&B at Kempinski Hotel Ajman

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, March 14 - 2010 at 15:12
  • PRESS RELEASE

Bernhard Kern has been appointed Director of F&B at Kempinski Hotel Ajman, where he will oversee management of the resort's 11 F&B outlets, direct day-to-day operations and lead marketing initiatives and team-building efforts within the F&B team.

Kern rejoins the Kempinski family after a brief stint in an identical position at Millennium Hotel in Chengdu, China. Kern brings solid experience of Kempinski's global portfolio of hotels, having worked in several Kempinski properties in the Chinese mainland - as Director of F&B at the Kempinski Resort and Spa in Sanya Bay and at Kempinski Hotel Chengdu - as well as in Germany at the Kempinski Hotel Airport Munich as F&B Operations Manager, and on a special Task Force for the grand opening of the Kempinski Hotel Amman.

"Having worked across the spectrum of cultures in three different continents, Bernhard's experience will be a great asset to the management and direction of Kempinski Hotel Ajman's F&B operations. We manage an array of unique dining destinations run by a multicultural team and we are excited to benefit from the wealth of experience Bernhard brings to the table,"

said Ulrich T. Eckhardt, Managing Director, Kempinski Hotel Ajman.

In addition to a strong understanding of the Kempinski service culture, Bernhard's experience and expertise in F&B management have been honed through years of employment with various leading hotels and restaurants in Germany, Cyprus, the Cayman Islands and the United States.

He received his formal education in hotel administration and culinary management from the Bavaria Hotelfachschule Altötting in Germany, boosted by further training in various aspects of F&B operations from seminars conducted by several prestigious training schools in Europe.

Commenting on his appointment, Kern said, "Having worked before with Kempinski for many y ears, the opportunity to rejoin the group - especially as part of the Ajman team - was one too exciting to pass up. The hospitality industry in the Middle East is developing at an extraordinary rate and I look forward to being a part of the exciting F&B activity in this part of the world."
