The new system will be implemented and managed by Waseel, the leading application service provider for electronic data Interchange in the Gulf region and will offer hospitals/clinics/pharmacies operating within Daman's network of healthcare providers with electronic verification solutions.
The 'Waseel' system is planned to save patients' and providers' time spent in receiving required approvals manually from Daman before rendering the required medical services by connecting both the provider and Daman together electronically. help provide necessary information in a less time-consuming manner
Daman's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Michael Bitzer commented: "Through our partnership with Waseel, we can now offer providers in the UAE a powerful tool to electronically extract information related to a patient's specific Daman plan in order to verify eligibility for required medical services. Providers can verify eligibility by using the patient's Daman card number for an instant response."
He continued:" The system will track each member's medical transaction. Hence activities such as patient hopping (the process whereby a patient visits more than one physician having the same specialty for the same complain in the same day or in a period not exceeding 7 days) would be detected.

It is expected that more than 700 healthcare providers in the Emirate will implement the new system following training sessions conducted by Daman and Waseel during the implementation process.
