Nigel Page, Senior Vice President Commercial - Americas and Africa, said:
"We are delighted to announce the resumption of daily services into Abidjan. The additional services will help to support business, international trade and passenger travel to and from the Cote D'Ivoire, while strengthening the country's overall transport infrastructure."
He added, "The re-introduction of this daily service is a further boost to West Africa, coming shortly after the announcement of Emirates' new service to Dakar, where we shall fly five times a week from 1st September. Africa is a hugely important continent for Emirates and we are committed to investing in and further strengthening our products and services across the region."
The Cote d'Ivoire, which has Guinea, Mali and Ghana amongst its neighbours, is one of the world's major producers and exporters of cocoa beans, coffee and palm oil. Abidjan is also a large commercial sea port, forming a gateway for the industrial world to and from Western Africa.
Emirates, supported by Emirates SkyCargo, has been flying to the African continent since 1986, the year after the airline was established. Last year, Emirates launched two new African routes - to Durban and Luanda, plus a second daily service to Lagos and an extra weekly flight to Nairobi.
In just under 25 years, Emirates has quickly grown into a major player on the aviation stage, boasting a 145-strong modern fleet, the world's largest A380 order book and a six continent route network.
