Air Arabia sees steady growth in Lebanon service

Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today that it continues to witness steady growth in passenger traffic between Sharjah and Beirut. In the first quarter of this year, the carrier served more than 28,050 passengers on this route, an increase of 7.2% compared to 26,160 passengers in the same period last year.

In 2009, more than 115,675 passengers traveled with Air Arabia between its primary hub in Sharjah and Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut. During the same period, the LCC reported 88% on-time performance on service between these two destinations, which it serves with 10 flights per week.

Air Arabia's fleet consists of brand new Airbus A320 aircrafts offering its passengers the best economy configuration in the market with 32 inches seat pitch, as well as all inclusive free baggage allowance.

"Given the large Lebanese expatriate population in the UAE and the popularity of Lebanon as a holiday destination, particularly in the summer holiday season, we are confident that we will continue to experience growth on service between Sharjah and Beirut,"

said AK Nizar, Head of Commercial Department, Air Arabia.

"This steady increase in passenger numbers is also a reflection of Air Arabia's award-winning value proposition," he said, "including low fares, convenient flight timings and customer service excellence."

Air Arabia is the Middle East and North Africa's leading low cost carrier that operates to 60 destinations from two hubs in Sharjah, UAE and Casablanca, Morocco. The carrier served 4.1 million passengers last year, an increase of 14.2% compared to 3.6 million passengers in 2008.
