High level participation of ministers of finance and foreign ministers at Turkish-Arab Economic Forum

Under the patronage and participation of the Prime Minister of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan and for the fifth consecutive year, the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum will take place on the 10th and 11th of June 2010 at the Four Seasons Bosphorus Hotel, Istanbul.

The forum is organized by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group and Turkey's Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT), the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the League of Arab States.

The forum will be attended by Turkish and Arab business leaders and major Arab companies, banking and investment groups from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Lebanon in addition to other leading Arab countries. High level Arab participation is marked this year by the presence of H.E. Saad Hariri Prime Minister of Lebanon who will be heading a large official delegation representing the private and public sectors, including H.E. Raya Al Hassan Minister of Finance, H.E. Ali AL Shami Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Riyadh Salame Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon. Amongst the forum's Arab high profile leading figures is H.E. Amr Moussa Secretary General of the League of Arab States who will also head a high level delegation.

Arab Finance Ministers will also take part in the forum, accompanied by leading banking and financial figures, in response to the invitation initiated by H.E. Mehmet Simsek Turkish Minister of Finance, and thus far Ministers form Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Morocco and Sudan have confirmed their attendance.

The meeting of Arab and Turkish foreign ministers is also due to take place alongside the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, thus adding to the economic agenda strategic considerations on economic and political relations between Turkey and the Arab countries and the vital role of Turkey in the region.

Forum's agenda will also address major issues including regional cooperation and prospects of opening up to neighboring countries, enhancing Turkish-Arab economic and investment relations, promoting complementarities between banks and financial markets in Turkey and the Arab countries, regional food security, and investment opportunities in agricultural development Projects, and other main projects.

"Turkey is keen to attract Arab investors to take part in its prospering and now stable economy. Privatization programs and ambitious plans in infrastructure, power generation, agribusiness, tourism, real estate and other services offer unlimited opportunities for forging business relations and refocusing Arab investment on the real economy of Turkey with its immense promise," stated Raouf Abou Zaki, Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal General Manager.

With Turkish Arab relations getting ever warmer and closer cooperation extending fast to various economic and political domains, The Turkish-Arab Economic Forum has gained natural momentum, and is now the ideal and premier platform for not only debating issues of concern to the Turkish and Arab side, but also the platform where two nations who share more than a cultural and historical background form a powerful axis for pressing forward the region.

The forum is sponsored by National Commercial Bank and Türkiye Finans Katılım Bankası,, Saudi Cable Company, Consolidated Contractors Company, BankMed and TBank, TAV Tepe Akfen, The Savola Group, Ata Invest, and Yuksel Construction.
