  • PRESS RELEASE

In an attempt to encourage adoption of environment friendly practices, Etisalat shared its Green ICT initiatives and solutions deployed for e-enabling the Government sector, that will significantly contribute towards achieving the Government's vision of creating an environment friendly ecosystem.

Addressing a power packed audience, Etisalat highlighted the potentially disastrous impact of global warming and climate change, and stressed on how effective ICT solutions like automation, power management and virtualization can not only increase organizations productivity, but also reduce the carbon footprint and energy consumption for businesses.

For effective business operations, today businesses need more IT resources that result in higher demand for fuel and power, putting a considerable pressure on the environment. However, organizations can minimize this impact on the environment by using energy efficient hardware to significantly reduce energy consumption and, therefore, electricity bills. Organizations can effectively leverage automation and virtualization technologies to create a digital presence that can help organizations' to achieve triple benefits of ubiquitous availability, customer centricity and environmental responsibility.

Etisalat also showcased its e-government solution that has not only resulted in efficient systems and faster response time, but also had a significant green impact through reduced manual processes and effective resource utilization. The solution has contributed to achieve the government's vision of creating knowledge based economy and community, while ensuring higher efficiencies and increased transparency for its customers.

"A few years ago, considerations such as operational efficiency, centralized policy management, reliability, and security were typically the only drivers of business ICT solutions. But now, with increased awareness on global warming and climate change, businesses have become more environmental sensitive in framing their ICT strategy. Etisalat is committed to partner the public and private sector to create awareness about the multifold benefits ICT can deliver to business, economy and environment, through automation and virtualization," said Abdulla Hashim, Senior Vice President, Business Solutions at Etisalat.

"Etisalat's e-Government solution is a wonderful example of how government organizations can lead the green movement from the front and encourage the private sector to adopt environmentally friendly practices." he added.
