Beirut to host FTTH Middle East Conference 2010

The Fibre to the Home Council Middle East Group is pleased to announce that the second edition of the FTTH Middle East Conference will be held on 30 November and 1 December 2010 at the Mövenpick Hotel in Lebanon's capital city, Beirut.

This two-day event was successfully launched last year in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Basem Al Rousan, Jordanian Minister of ICT, who gave the opening speech. Dr. Mashour Abu Daka, Palestinian Minister of ICT, also made a speech in support of fibre to the home. The event attracted more than 260 delegates from 30 countries, and created unprecedented media attention, with several TV channels covering the proceedings.

"The success of last year's event made it evident that a second edition is a good idea," said Chris Holden, President of the FTTH Council Europe. "There is huge market potential in the Middle East, bringing delegates from all over the world to our conference. The Council has also opened a new office in Dubai to cope with the increased interest in fibre access technology in the region."

"The FTTH Council Europe's experience producing successful conferences over the last eight years clearly is of tremendous benefit to our local Middle East audiences," said Mohammed Salehynia, Vice-Chair of the FTTH Council Middle East Group. "Last year's delegates, including our distinguished patron, were very impressed by the standard of the event."

The conference will provide service providers, investors, regulators and other prospective FTTH stakeholders with valuable insight into the business and technical solutions for next-generation broadband deployment in the Middle East region.

Under the title "Taking your life to new horizons", the conference will feature special sessions on applications and services that can be enhanced with fibre to the home. The programme will also include a mix of case studies, regulatory debate and discussion of technical best?practice alongside a dedicated exhibition of vendors showcasing the latest FTTH products.

Delegate registration will open on 26 July 2010.
