Emirates-Citibank credit card won the 'Best Affinity Charge/Credit card Program' (International) at the 15th annual awards ceremony of the prestigious Freddie Awards. The readers of 'Inside Flyer' magazine placed the Emirates-Citibank card at the top slot in the International category for Best Affinity Credit Card program.

Only two years old, the card program has delivered value to customer through innovation and superior travel related benefits. The program builds upon the inherent strengths of two partners, with Skywards, the frequent flyer program of Emirates, offering a spectrum of travel related benefits and Citibank enabling customers to get to their rewards through their spend at over 26 million outlets worldwide.

Nabeel Malik, Head of Consumer Banking for Citibank, said: " The value of Emirates-Citibank proposition is clearly reflected through its usage which is fourfold that of other credit cards in the market. With innovative marketing programs, the Emirates-Citibank card is positioned as a passport to the world of superior travel benefits not only for a frequent flyer but also for non-frequent flying card members."

The competition, organized by InsideFlyer magazine, allows consumers to rank programs through a value-voting system, which determines winners on overall merit and quality. KLM Eurocard program and American Express Membership Rewards were placed second and third respectively.

The program is targeted at frequent and non-frequent flyers with opportunities of earning travel rewards faster through their everyday spending. The card member is awarded with one Skywards Mile for every US Dollar spend. Additionally card members can accelerate their Skywards Miles earnings through spending at the preferred merchants network.

The rewards earned by way of Skywards Miles are redeemed for free flights with Emirates. Additionally Skywards has agreements with global airlines partners, leisure management companies and hotel chains that enable card members to be rewarded across the travel and entertainment spectrum.

Brian LaBelle, Skywards General Manager, said: "We are thrilled to receive this tremendous vote of confidence from our members, which reflects the superlative value offered by Emirates-Citibank Credit Card."

Named after Sir Freddie Laker, the Freddie Awards is referred to as the Oscars of the frequent flyer industry. With its first ever win the Emirates-Citibank card is definitely poised for a superb run after having been voted as the best amidst International competition.
