"In times of turbulence for the world economy and the airline industry in particular, we intentionally chose the location of Dubai to reiterate our dedication to one of the most stable and growing regions of the world," said Mr. Uwe Mueller, Vice President, Sales and Services of Lufthansa Passenger Airline and the host for the summit to the group's other business segments.

The conference, starting on the 3rd and completed on the 4th of May 2003 consisted of the regional representatives of the various members of the Lufthansa Aviation Group including Lufthansa Cargo, Lufthansa Technik, Thomas Cook, Lufthansa Consulting, LSG Catering, Lufthansa Systems and Lufthansa Commercial Holding.

"The Middle East region never ceases to amaze us. The rate of economic growth and infrastructure development is outstanding and stimulates us to further our strategic development here and solidify our place as the preferred European carrier in the region", said Mueller.

In addition to this corporate regional meeting and the meetings of station and sales managers on May 5th and 6th 2003, Lufthansa German Airlines is holding its Global Sales Meeting in Dubai as well. In the upcoming week, Mr. Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President Sales and Services and his direct reports from New York, Singapore, London and Dubai will discuss actions and reactions to the present challenges of economic downturn, the Iraq war and SARS.

Serving the UAE for over 25 years and the region as a whole for over 40, Lufthansa has grown to be one of the leading airlines in Middle East. This respected position has been achieved through the years of dedication, continuing to serve Dubai and the region even during times of crisis as Lufthansa was the first European airline to recently restore all flights back to normal having suspended flights to Kuwait for a short duration of time.

The airline is planning further expansions in the Middle East region.
