Civil aviation bodies head for Dubai show with airport suppliers eyeing USD10 billion Middle East expansions

The Departments of Civil Aviation from Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Dhahran, and Iran have all now confirmed that they will take dedicated stands to promote their expansion plans at the Airport Build & Supply Exhibition and Conference, taking place at Airport Expo Dubai from June 2 - 4.

In addition, the DCA authorities in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Bahrain, as well as Doha International Airport and the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India, have committed to sending official delegations to the event, where visitors will include many leading UAE-based consultants and contractors.

Organised by event management and marketing specialists Streamline Marketing, the exhibition will present unique business opportunities for 80 suppliers from around the world, including the UK's leading manufacturer of hangar doors, Jewers Doors Limited, which is exhibiting at the show for the first time.

'The Middle East is our number one market outside the UK, so it is very important for us to be present in Dubai and meet potential new customers' said Chris Jewers, the company's managing director.

Jewers Doors Limited is no stranger to the Middle East, having already supplied hangar doors for the international airports in Doha, Kuwait, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Sana'a. It is currently in the process of completing a project for Seeb International Airport in Oman.

The third edition of the Airport Build & Supply Exhibition and Conference will bring Jewers Doors Limited and all other exhibitors into direct contact with senior DCA representatives and other key decision makers.

'Private meetings have been pre-arranged for each exhibitor with the relevant project manager, engineer or architect in the Dubai DCA, enabling suppliers to discuss Dubai International Airport's US $ 4.1 billion expansion,' said Joanne Evans, director of Streamline Marketing. 'Representatives of the DCA authorities from neighbouring countries have also been encouraged to schedule meetings with exhibitors,' she said.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai DCA, the exhibition has been commissioned by the authority in its efforts to ensure that the region's new generation of airports are built to the most technologically advanced specifications possible.

The event will spotlight the Government of Dubai's development plan to make Dubai International Airport one of the world's leading aviation hubs, at a time when other major airport developments are under way in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Libya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Oman, Morocco, Ajman, Syria, Sharjah and Al Ain.

The exhibitor line-up will include suppliers of a huge range of specialised equipment and services, from escalators, elevators, and moving walkways, to security and lighting systems, telecommunications, automated baggage systems, fixtures and fittings, signage and graphics, first and business class lounges, leisure facilities, aircraft hangers and fire stations.
