- PRESS RELEASE
Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company (Qatari Diar) has published its amended draft masterplan for the Chelsea Barracks site in London, in response to further public consultation.
Since then local residents and other interested groups have continued to participate in the ongoing consultation process organised for Qatari Diar by the independent, specialist firm, Soundings.
Soundings have canvassed over 1000 local residents and other interested groups and individuals since the Concept Masterplan was first unveiled. Over 200 people attended public exhibitions/workshops held to discuss the Concept Masterplan, and meetings of the Residents' Liaison Group (RLG) and the Community Liaison Group (CLG) involved the representatives of around 2500 households.
The Masterplanning team has made a number of amendments, following this further consultation, including reductions in height to some of the buildings, as well as improvements to setting and public realm spaces.
A spokesman for Qatari Diar said, "This latest Draft Masterplan incorporates feedback from the very extensive consultation undertaken since the Concept Masterplan was launched in April. The reaction from local residents and key stakeholders has been encouraging. We will be holding further discussions with local residents in a series of consultation events in the coming weeks."
"This Draft Masterplan is the latest step towards the outline planning application which we propose to submit later in the summer. As we have previously announced, the detailed architectural design of the buildings will be set out in the subsequent detailed planning applications," he added.
