International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), the organisers of the event said that 'The Student Show 2003' intends to provide an effective platform for the student community in the UAE, to network effectively with educational experts and peruse the latest developments in their chosen field of studies. IC&E recently successfully concluded the 15th Gulf Education and Training Exhibition (GETEX) on April 11, 2003, which attracted more than 300 educational institutes and around 20,000 visitors.
'We were overwhelmed with the response we had received both internationally and regionally for the Gulf Education show despite the prevalent political climate in the region during that period. Since a large number of students begin looking at options for further studies towards the end of the year as well, we thought it would be an ideal opportunity for us to conduct a more broad-based show, in the second half of 2003. Having hosted educational shows in the region for many years, IC&E feels that we are competent to gauge the pulse of this future generation who have definite preferences when it comes to choosing their future career path. The Student Show will not only focus on educational opportunities but will also provide a complete environment for students looking at networking opportunities,' said David Domoney, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E).
'Every year an estimated 200,000 students graduate from high schools in the UAE eager to explore the various academic and training options that are available to them. The Student Show provides the ideal platform for international academic institutions to showcase their educational facilities in the next academic year. The student population in the UAE is extremely focussed and aware of the developments in the education sector be it in the field of e-learning, customised education packages or distance learning options. The needs of the globalised world necessitate that educational institutions must better equip students to respond to new educational demands in the workplace and the dynamic complexity and often interdisciplinary nature of knowledge,' he added.
The Student Show 2003 will showcase educational courses, audiovisual software, distance learning courses, language laboratories, education for those with special needs, turnkey educational & training systems, international study guides as well as a host of other options for students of all disciplines.
The event will also incorporate a Career Centre, where students can access career guidance advice by specialist consultants.
A Network Zone will serve as a meeting place for students to exchange ideas and also interact with their peer groups.
