'Japanese technology is based on innovation and quality. Counterfeiting of our trademark and product design harms our image as the consumer gets a poor quality product bearing our name. This kind of activity is extremely harmful to the industry. It is a serious and growing problem that is adversely affecting the image and revenues of companies across the world,' said Tomida, General Manager, Consumer Products, Panasonic Marketing Middle East FZE. 'The danger of counterfeit products has penetrated all industries and needs to be tackled on a war footing. We are immensely pleased with the efforts undertaken by the officials in an effort to combat the increasing problem of counterfeit products. This initiative has proved to be extremely beneficial as it reflects the seriousness of the government in controlling the counterfeit activities and passes on a strong message to potential offenders.'
The Matsushita delegation also added that they are currently keeping a close eye on the local markets in order to see if there are any traders in these markets who are still dealing with counterfeit 'NATIONAL' branded products.
The Dubai Department of Economic Development officials have indicated that if they find the existence of traders who are still dealing in counterfeit 'NATIONAL' branded products, then strong action will be taken against them.
At the end of the meeting, the Matsushita delegation thanked the Dubai Department of Economic Development for their co-operation and asked them to continue their drive in combating counterfeit products to ensure the healthy growth of companies in the emirate.
