Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT company, has recorded major gains in the IT market in Kuwait, with a noteworthy increase in the sale of PCs, servers and notebooks, and rising to the No.4 position in the Gulf's fourth significant IT-savvy state.
"Kuwait has made major advances in IT to be placed amongst the top four IT directed Gulf countries. Demand for IT products has risen impressively in the past few years in Kuwait and FSC has been able to considerably boost its sales in this competitive market," said Mounzer Sabbagh, Sales Director, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "These results are very encouraging as they have been achieved against robust competition from three leading global vendors who have been in the Kuwaiti market for an extended period, unlike FSC which is relatively new to the Gulf market. These results speak volumes for the FSC products and the marketing skills of our partner in Kuwait."
Firas Majbour, Deputy General Manager, Al Nawasi, Kuwait, said: "Kuwait's discerning consumers have shown increased interest in FSC products because of their leading edge technology and attractive pricing. Kuwait is one of the dynamic and fastest growing markets in the Gulf regions and consumers are well versed in terms of technically advanced computing. Kuwaiti consumers, both individuals and corporates, have displayed strong loyalty to FSC products, with a current installed base of 8,500 PCs, 500 servers and 1,500 notebooks."
FSC's key customers include Kuwait Airways, Public Authority for applied Education & Training, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Public Authority for Civil ID, National Mobile Telecommunications and Kuwait University.
"We anticipate further robust growth in Kuwait in view of recent successes and IT trends in the region," said Majbour. "With the combined force of government e-initiatives and private companies' strategy to embrace full automation will drive the demand for PCs in the months to come. Considering PC penetration in Kuwait is lower in comparison to Western countries, there is scope for growth and development. As partners of FSC, we feel we are strongly placed to increase our market share in Kuwait through our industry-leading products."
Kuwait boasts a relatively high PC penetration of over 13 per cent, close to that of Bahrain, UAE and Qatar, against 2.22 per cent average in the Arab World. The world average in PC penetration is estimated to be around 10 per cent, according to figures released by the Dubai-based Madar Research. Kuwait, along with Qatar, are characterized by relatively high PC penetration ratios.
