Inmarsat donates satellite terminal to Jordan's medical relief missions

The team will use Inmarsat's mini-M satellite mobile terminals to stay in touch with control centers that will allow them to stay mobile and reactive. The medical relief mission extends medical support to people through a "moving hospital" model and the satellite terminal is what is needed to remain in touch with the rest of the world. Inmarsat's mini-M allows the mission to deploy medical expertise on a mobile basis in areas where communication facilities are virtually non-existent.

Inmarsat, a leading provider of global mobile satellite communications solutions, has donated the terminal equipment needed by the mission, as well as free airtime for the next three months. Yazan Hatamleh, regional business development manager of Inmarsat Ltd handed over Inmarsat's mini-M to the Eng. General Ibrahim Mohamed Al Maghayra, director general of Royal signal corps in the Jordanian Armed Forces. News reporters from war front lines have been using the Inmarsat network and devices to broadcast to the rest of the world news from the front line and aid agencies regularly use Inmarsat satellite phones to co-ordinate their aid activities.
