'With its entry-level price point, the Magnia 560S balances our portfolio of mobility-enabling servers,' said Ahmed Khalil, regional manager of the Toshiba's Middle East computer systems division.

'Small, growing businesses and IT departments looking for a cost-effective solution for single applications and enhanced support for mobile working can benefit from deploying the new model. It is also ideal as a POS back-office server for retail organisations - a segment where Toshiba has won a reputation with previous entry-level models.'

The Pentium 4-based Magnia 560S provides clock speeds of up to 3.06 GHz with 533 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), IDE or SCSI hard-drives, integrated ATA RAID (0,1) and upgrade paths support higher levels of ATA and SCSI RAID.

The single-processor server has up to 2GB of DDR266 ECC SDRAM memory and is delivered with a choice of Pentium 4 options - 2.0GHz with 512 K L2 Cache and 400MHz front side bus; 2.8GHz / 512 K L2 / 533MHz FSB; or 3.06GHz / 512 L2 / 533MHz FSB.

Flexible storage configurations are provided by selecting either IDE drives with optional hot-plug support for a cost-effective solution, or SCSI HDDs for more demanding applications.

The IDE option provides up to 480GB of internal storage and the SCSI Ultra 320 option provides 292GB of storage. RAID (1,0) is onboard for IDE support and optional RAID controllers are available to support other levels of IDE RAID and SCSI RAID.

Expandability is provided by 5 PCI slots and connectivity is supported via a standard 100BaseTx/10BaseT interface with an optional 10/100/1000BaseTx NIC. Browser-based management by Toshiba's Harness-Eye/WEB helps minimise downtime by proactive failure detection and supports deployment in branch offices by remote management.
