NbadOnline's customers surpass 100,000

NbadOnline, the online banking service of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi's (NBAD), has surpassed 100,000 users so far in 2010, representing a significant increase.

At the end of the first half, the Bank also achieved record users of its online users and generated the highest income in this business category in the first half of 2010. During the six-month period that ended on June 30, 2010, the users of NBAD online services reached approximately 96,000, an increase of 25% from the first half of last year.

NBAD online also saw its profits reach Dhs6.8m in the first half, an increase of 31% from the same period in 2009. The figures also mean that users increased 15% during the first half of the year and profits rose 17%.

"These milestones were achieved because of the superior and secure services NBAD online provides to the Bank's esteemed customers,"

said Ahmed AlNaqbi, the Senior Manager of Channels and Electronic Banking Services at NBAD.

NBAD is the only UAE bank to provide each of its customers a PIN generating security device, which is required for login, making nbadOnline extremely secure and safe.

"While we are proud of this achievement it will not slow our continued pursuit to further improve and expand our online services," Mr. AlNaqbi added.

NBAD customers can use Nbadonline to check their account, pay bills, and transfer money.

Nbadonline service is provided by the Bank's Internet Banking Unit (IBU).

"NBAD was one of the first banks in the country to launch an internet banking services for its customers in a highly secure environment. Our internet banking service has been a great success with many thousands of customers opting to transact via nbadOnline everyday on account of the convenience and unrestricted accessibility," said Manoj Bhatia, the Manager of the Internet Banking Unit of NBAD.

In addition to online services, Last year NBAD became the first UAE bank to offer mobile phone banking through its Arrow services, which allows bill payment, donations to charity, account-to-account money transfer and international money transfer. NBAD remains one of the few UAE banks to offer mobile payment services.

"It's impressive that Nbadonline users have reached 100,000 especially since we offer robust mobile phone banking services through our Arrow programme," Mr. AlNaqbi said.

NBAD's IBU moved to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Q1 2010. It also achieved 9001:2008 Quality Management Certification by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, to become the first ISO Certified internet banking service in the UAE. NBAD also received the Arab Banking Web Award in 2009.

NBAD's Internet Banking Unit offers multilingual customer services to all nbadOnline users. Not only does the IBU manage the operations and customer support services but also supports marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to increase the nbadOnline service usage.
