Hala Badri, EVP Brand and Communications,Du, said:
"Stamps are a window to a country's culture and it is much beyond being the object of desire for philatelists worldwide. As a UAE national company, our support for the first Arabian stamp exhibition reflects our intent to to further reinforce Sharah's position as the centre of Arabic and Islamic culture as envisioned by H.H Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. We hope the organisers great success in achieving its goals, by organising this event."
Laura Watts, General Manager at Mega Mall said, the mall is excited about hosting the event and hopes the local and expat community alike will attend and absorb the event's intriguing collections.
"We've been planning the event in conjunction with the Emirates Philatelic Association with the objective of creating an event that was interactive and educational and fun for all; keeping in mind that many of the visitors will be experiencing philately for the first time. Mega Mall takes great pride in hosting events such as this, and we hope it attracts visitors from right across the Emirates," Laura Watts added.
Following Wednesday's ribbon cutting, Thursday will feature a workshop and presentation from selected exhibitors that will offer guidance and advice for those new to philately. The exhibition's objectives are to encourage new enthusiasts to come forward.
Friday's highlights will include a public auction, due to take place at Mega Mall from 6:30pm, to a rare 80-page medal winning collection of stamps cataloguing Dubai's Postal History with a reserve price.
President of the Emirates Philatelic Association, Abdulla Khoory, said many of the rare stamps and coins on auction may fetch far greater sale prices, than their reserves.
"We have some truly unique pieces on auction this week, many of which are one of a kind. We anticipate many of the items to exceed their reserve price and some by a significant margin. The Dubai Postal History compete five frames in particular is breathtaking. We expect it to fetch in excess of its reserve," he added.
