For a two week period in September Dubai will become the financial centre of the world and there are a wide number of short-term vacancies offering UAE students in particular, the opportunity of a lifetime, to work at one of the world's biggest and most prestigious annual events.

Already a total of 21 seminars have been held across the UAE by Dubai 2003 at branches of the Higher Colleges of Technology and Universities - giving details of the opportunities on offer to young people from every Emirate. This meeting with senior representatives from the Higher Education sector is the final step in the awareness programme launched in April by Dubai 2003.

Dubai 2003 General Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Belselah explained to the audience of senior academic staff about the magnificent opportunities on offer to motivated and committed young people across the UAE.

"Dubai 2003 is a once in a lifetime event that we want to share with the young people of the UAE. Participation in this event gives them a chance to proudly represent their country to visitors from all over the world and give them invaluable experience that can be used in their future careers," explained Mr. Belselah.

The campaign to educate students about the opportunities on offer at Dubai 2003 has been led by Community Liaison Officer Sara Ismail Mohammed. She has conducted a series of 21 seminars at Higher Colleges and Universities in the UAE.

"We are very happy with the response we have already had from students across the Emirates and have asked the senior members of Colleges and Universities to encourage their talented young people to apply for these positions," added Mr. Belselah.

Over 700 applications have now been received by Dubai 2003 following these seminars and participation at the 2003 Careers Fair in Dubai but there are considerable opportunities still on offer for the wide variety of jobs available. All students will receive comprehensive training before embarking on their duties.

The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city, other than Washington DC, one year in three. Dubai and the UAE were selected because of its highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
