The World Game Championship (WGC), which is organised in strategic partnership with the World Cyber Games, is also known as the Olympics of cyber gaming. The WGC has brought the UAE National Team to the games since 2008. The third edition of the tournament, which is supported by Zotac International, the world's No.1 manufacturer of graphic cards, motherboard & mini-PCs and NVIDIA, the renowned Graphic Processing Unit inventor as the Gold Sponsors, will see cyber athletes from across the globe competing for the coveted title.

The gaming industry in the region has seen a surge in the past few years. The Middle East region is currently seen as the next booming gaming economy, with the very young population of high purchasing power and the increase rate of internet penetration. Not to mention, that the hot summer months are creating a revenue stream for the industry in indoor sports. As stated in the Price Waterhouse Cooper research predicting the growth of the gaming industry $11.1bn to $15.4bn by year 2011.
