FedEx Express, the world's largest express transportation company, has won the annual Dubai Cargo Village Environmental Awareness Award 2003.
The participating companies based in the Dubai Cargo Village were judged in 4 categories; Cleanliness, Recycling, No Smoking and Employee Environmental Awareness. FedEx won the award for the cleanliness of its offices and vehicles, effective recycling systems, a "No Smoking" policy and its active participation in environment preservation activities.
As part of its continuing efforts in environmental preservation, FedEx held a special awareness month in March 2003 to educate its employees on health, safety and environment issues. Other achievements in this sector was the first place the company scooped in the Emirates Environmental Group's Paper Collection campaign in June 2002. FedEx's UAE employees collected an impressive 2,434kg of paper for recycling which was more than any of the other 34 participating organizations.
The Dubai Cargo Village Environmental Awareness Award was established in 2001 as part of Dubai Cargo Village's efforts to make the private and public sector companies located in Dubai Cargo Village more environmentally friendly.
