Qatarization Council launched at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha

At The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, the selection, development and nurturing of Qatari citizens is a priority.

A program is in place to increase the number of Qatari employees throughout the hotel and to develop these individuals towards leadership positions.

As of June 1, the Qatarization Council was formed, co-chaired by Sheikh Hamad Al Thani, Assistant Director of Human Resources, and Shelley Perkins, Director of Human Resources for The Ritz-Carlton, Doha.

"The aim of the council is to find creative ways to attract, retain and develop local individuals towards a successful hospitality industry career. We have planned monthly round table meetings with our Qatari Ladies and Gentlemen to listen to their ideas, suggestions and requests. The first meeting will be held on June 16" commented Pierre Perusset, general manager of the hotel.

"In order to attract the young Qatari, more will be done to foster strong relationship with Doha's schools and universities, promoting hospitality as a valid career option for the future" added Shelley Perkins.

In line with this charter, the recent promotion of Rashid Al Hajri from Assistant Human Resources Manager, to Human Resources Manager confirms the success of the development of local talent. Sheikh Hamad Al Thani was promoted to the position of Assistant Director of Human Resources and will be groomed in all Human Resources Management practices.

We look forward to more success stories in the future and the continued promotion of the Hospitality industry as an exciting and viable career option for the local community.
