Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General DOHMS, discussing the need for the APM solution said that there are many concerns related to the tracking of biomedical equipment and the management of a medical facility.

"Tracking and managing mobile assets, complying with regulatory standards, scheduling and executing preventive and corrective maintenance, guarding and managing an inventory of clinical equipment were some of the major issues and solving these problems at DOHMS, maintaining over 25,000 pieces of equipment in multiple locations and providing health-related services to around one million people was a big challenge," he said.

With the requirements identified DOHMS undertook a stringent vendor evaluation procedure to identify the best-of-breed solution that would meet their needs. Intertec's proposal, with their solution from Datastream, qualified as the best. "Intertec's selection by DOHMS was based on a combination of factors, including the company's inherent strength and expertise in providing IT solutions, its proven ability to successfully implement large projects and, of course, the features of Datastream 7i," the official said.

Intertec is the authorised partner for Datastream in the UAE. Datastream (NASDAQ: DSTM) has an established presence and reach in 140 countries and provides asset management software, integrated procurement, and supporting services to companies - counting among their clients over 60 per cent of the Fortune 500.

"We believe Datastream's 7i functionalities, such as asset management, work order management, material management, purchasing management, multi-organisation security, project management, scheduling and messenger, will provide enhanced capabilities for managing the engineering services," said Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of Engineering, DOHMS.

Intertec's work on the project, which includes installation and training of staff working with the APM solution started on April 1, 2003, and is scheduled to be completed by March 31, 2004. The DOHMS contract is highly prestigious for Intertec and is being viewed as recognition of the company's commitment to the provision of 'best services and solutions', said Khalid Essa Bu Humaid, Chairman, Intertec Systems.

"The DOHMS contract is the outcome of our commitment to ensure that all our solutions are based on best practices approach to deliver a distinct edge to our customers in today's competitive and technology driven business scenario," he said.
