Ministry of Education adds digital technology to Jordan's classrooms

- PRESS RELEASE
BenQ (pronounced BEN-CUE), the region's leader in digital lifestyle products, today announced it has signed a deal with Jordan's Ministry of Education to provide more than 600 projectors, as part of the ambitious modernization program for schools across Jordan.
The ministry's investment in advanced tools like digital projectors is part of a coordinated drive to establish a modern infrastructure for Jordan's school and colleges. BenQ's digital projectors will provide teachers with a valuable tool for illustrating key points in lectures and showing educational films for students.
"We are delighted that the next generation in Jordan will be taught using these high definition tools. Digital projectors can provide razor sharp images in lessons ranging science to advanced mathematics, and the ministry should be congratulated on their far-sighted vision in supplying such advanced technology," said Ashraf Daqqa, distribution manager, Computer Engineering Bureau.
The Ministry selected BenQ's most popular projector model, the DS/X 660, because they felt it was the most robust, portable and affordable tool for a classroom environment. The DS/X 660 offers high levels of brightness and unmatched picture resolution, and has proved popular in educational and corporate environments across the Middle East.
"The deal represents another step forward in Jordan's modernization program, and we are delighted that BenQ is providing the tools that will illuminate learning for the next generation of students," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East.
BenQ's distributor in Jordan, Computer Engineering Bureau (CEB), played an important role in winning the contract. Under the terms of the agreement, CEB will provide world-class after-sales service for the projectors supplied to the ministry of education.
"It is important for BenQ to have strong partnerships so that we can deliver maximum value to our customers. Our work with Computer Engineering Bureau indicates that there is a huge opportunity for growth in providing technology to Jordan's education sector," said Dung.
The announcement of the deal with the Ministry of Education in Jordan coincides with another win for BenQ in the Middle East's education sector, this time in Qatar. In this second deal, BenQ will supply 80 digital projectors to the progressive state's ministry of education.
"BenQ fully supports the education sector in the Middle East, and one of our corporate goals is to contribute to the development of the next generation of the communities in which we operate," added Dung.
Jordan's integrated education reform program, unveiled earlier in 2003, seeks to boost the scores of Jordanian students in international exams, implement online learning portals for primary and secondary students, and boost college enrolment levels.
