The 7920 connects to an organization's converged voice and data network via a wireless LAN, allowing all incoming and outgoing telephone calls the use of the same internal infrastructure as a landline. The Cisco 7920 reduces telecommunications costs within campus environments such as hospitals, refineries and schools and will provide access to industry-tailored XML-based applications in the future.

"For people whose work requires regular and unimpeded movement, the 7920 is business essential," said Ghazi Atallah, director of operations for Middle East and North Africa. "The 7920 will also provide sophisticated IP-based services such as room service functions in a hotel environment, and high quality telephony services which will keep people connected throughout a wireless hotspot."

This 7920 will empower employees in hospitals, warehouses, retail stores, universities and other highly mobile work environments with reliable access to Cisco IP Communications systems, anywhere in the workplace at anytime. The phone operates seamlessly over intelligent IP network infrastructure with Cisco Aironet® Series IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless access points.

Cisco's team of experts also presented the latest in security and converged networking solutions at the Cisco Expo. "Organizations are rapidly developing their installed infrastructure to streamline internal processes and improve efficiency and productivity. We have spoken with the leaders of many local industries and the feedback for these solutions shows a definite need for solutions that create substantial returns on investment. This is a positive trend for the local economy and shows that companies in the UAE are preparing long-term strategies for growth in services and profitability," Ghazi continued.

The Cisco Expo was supported by Cisco's Channel Partners, CNS, Emirates Computers, Emircom, GBM, Getronics, HP and NCR.
