HP announces sponsorship scheme for UAE
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 11 - 2003 at 14:43
- PRESS RELEASE
HP today announced a new scheme to support UAE Nationals wishing to join the workforce.
Speaking at the launch of the scheme Joseph Hanania, Regional General Manager, HP Middle East said, "HP is actively looking at ways to support and open doors for UAE Nationals within the local workforce. Our current strategy to foster local talent through training schemes, such as a BTEC Certificate, aims to provide deserving students with the necessary skills to qualify for jobs within global companies such as HP".
Further commenting Hanania said, "HP has a deep belief in nurturing local skills right across the Arab region and hence is developing an ongoing Nationalisation campaign to roll out over the coming years".
HP is collaborating with the Abu Dhabi based National Human Resources (NHR) company to run this training scheme. The programme conforms to rigorous standards and is Edexcel accredited by the Business and Technician Educational Council (BTEC) in the UK.
"HP as an international company has provided great support with their nationalisation programme." said Mohammed Omar, CEO Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce.
" We have 10 deserving students who through HPs funding will have a greater opportunity to excel and to be fast-tracked through the ranks of the organisations of their choice. NHR Training programmes are clearly focused to build essential business skills and tools for young nationals who are serious about getting into the mainstream of economic development in the country," added Mohammed Omar.
"We believe that National Human Resources BTEC programme has the essential elements to fulfil the main objective of HP's training scheme, this being the strengthening of local UAE talent to equip them with the necessary business English and administration skills, in order to secure the jobs they desire", said Muhammad Mubarak, CEO National Human Resources.
The course will cover topics ranging from office communication and correspondence to leadership skills, finance and accounting basics.
In order to graduate students must pass a thorough assessment by an external examiner from the UK before being awarded with the globally standardised and widely recognised qualification.
