  • United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 11 - 2003 at 16:04
  • PRESS RELEASE

Senior executives from award-winning Emirates Airline travelled to Moscow to brief top travel agents on plans to start flights to the Russian capital on 1st July.

The Dubai-based international airline will fly five times a week non-stop, Tuesday through Saturday, between Dubai International Airport and Moscow's Domodedovo airport, leaving Dubai at 0830 to reach Moscow at 1355 and returning on the same days to land in Dubai again at 2310.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, the airline's Commercial Operations Director, briefed travel agents, tour operators and press on plans for the new service, supported by Hamad Obaidalla, General Manager GCC, Yemen, Iran and CIS, and Nasser Batha, Area Manager Russia and CIS.

Mr Al Ghaith said: "We are all set to link Moscow, the political and economic centre of Russia, and Dubai, the commercial hub of the Middle East. "More and more Russians want to visit Dubai, and our flights will serve this fast-growing market, strengthen ties between our two countries and provide the quality service today's discerning travellers expect."

Emirates' state-of-the-art Airbus A330-200s with 18 First, 42 Business and 183 Economy seats will serve the route. All Moscow flights will carry Russian-speaking crew and will feature Russian programming as part of the 17 TV and 22 radio channels available on board.

Mr Al Ghaith said: "Dubai has become the destination of choice for tourists, ideal for holidays, offering sun, sand, sea, sports, shopping, the sights and sounds of magical Arabia, and top class standards of service.
"We also expect strong growth in premium travel to places beyond Dubai. As the first airline offering a quality longhaul product from Moscow, we look forward to developing our relationship with the Russian capital," Mr Al Ghaith said.
