AGMC's to launch 1st BMW Motorrad Showroom in the Middle East

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, June 16 - 2003 at 11:41
  • PRESS RELEASE

AGMC, the exclusive BMW Group cars and motorcycle importer for Dubai and Northern Emirates, will be opening the first stand-alone BMW Motorrad showroom in the Middle East on the 18th of June.

The showroom will be inaugurated by BMW Motorrad's Randy Mamola who is a former world 500cc Grand Prix motorcycle champion.

The decision to open the showroom comes with the growing interest in motorcycles in Dubai according to Stathis I Stathis, General Manager of AGMC. "Our sales figures have proven that there is a growing interest in motorcycles in Dubai, which has been attributed to a combination of the impressive motorcycle line-up and various marketing activities that we undertake. Given this interest, we decided to invest in a showroom that gives something back to our existing BMW motorcyclists and to welcome new riders into the BMW Motorrad riding family."

The new Motorrad showroom has the capacity of showcasing up to 15 different models at one time. It will work as a one-stop-shop for motorcycles, offering the full range of motorcycle rider gear and accessories and BMW Owner's Choice motorcycle financing. BMW Motorrad offers the most comprehensive range of safety options for the motorcyclist, ranging from industry-leading ABS braking systems fitted to most BMW motorcycles, through to the extensive range of motorcycle helmets and other riding gear designed to ensure the safety, comfort and visibility of the rider. This comprehensive range of safety options available on both the motorcycle and for the rider, combined with a philosophy of preparing the rider for the challenges of the sport through training, sets BMW Motorrad apart from competitors in the industry.

Stathis added that BMW Motorrad is increasingly important to the Group, and it is always interesting to remember that BMW were making motorcycles well before they started producing cars. In fact, BMW Motorrad is celebrating 80 years in 2003, and the new showroom opening couldn't have come at a more appropriate time.

Meanwhile, Mamola, a former world 500cc Grand Prix racer with an impressive 13 wins and 56 podium finishes to his name in the world's toughest track racing, will be available to meet the public, sign autographs and show videos of his experience as a 500cc Grand Prix racer and as an Ambassador to the BMW Motorrad Boxer Cup. All in the public are welcome to the showroom grand opening on June 18th at 7:00 PM to meet Mamola.

On the participation of Mamola, Stathis said: "We are delighted and honoured that a man with the depth of experience in the motorcycling industry as Randy Mamola, who for eight years was at the peak of the sport and is now an Ambassador for BMW Motorrad Boxer Cup Race Series, has agreed to inaugurate our showroom. I am sure that our customers, as well as other motorcycle enthusiasts, will be delighted at this unique opportunity."
