This year, the Group is offering more prizes than in any previous year. Ten kilogrammes of specially designed 'City of Gold' coins are being given away, in addition to a special 'win back 50% of your purchase' promotion and 5 kilos of gold in 'scratch & win' offers.
'We are extremely happy to announce the 'Win the City of Gold' summer promotion 2003,' said Tawhid Abdullah, Chairman of the Gold and Jewellery Group. 'This year we proudly present a chance to win larger amounts over a longer period of time than ever before. The promotion will now run for 72 days, parallel to the Dubai Summer Surprises. This is to benefit from the increased tourism in Dubai during summer, thanks to the efforts of the Government of Dubai.'
'We have worked hard to help Dubai earn the name of 'City of Gold', and promotions like this definitely play a large role in creating awareness of that, both in Dubai, and internationally. This in turn helps create a healthy economy and adds one more reason for tourists to visit Dubai.'
Representing the World Gold Council, Monisha Macleod, Marketing Manager (UAE), added, 'We are delighted to support this promotion, which will encourage gold sales right through the summer period. The World Gold Council is constantly seeking opportunities to promote gold in the region, and we work closely with the Group and other bodies to keep gold in the forefront of people's minds.'
''Win the City of Gold' will run from June 19th to August 29th,' said Group Manager KP Baiju.
'For the first time ever, 'Win back 50% of your purchase' has been introduced as part of the 'Scratch & Win' opportunity.
'To add value to this campaign, parallel promotions are planned through various radio channels covering available languages such as English, Hindi, Malayalam and Arabic.
