General Motors expands presence at Motor Show
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 17 - 2003 at 11:20
- PRESS RELEASE
General Motors, the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, confirmed its participation at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)-organised Middle East International Motor Show with 20 per cent more floor space than the last show, validating the event's status as the region's most comprehensive automotive exhibition.
"While General Motors has been the leading exhibitor at the Motor Show for the past four consecutive editions, the fact that it has agreed to an even greater presence speaks volumes about the significance of the exhibition in the Middle East region," said Mr. bin Fahad. "With other leading manufacturers also expressing a keen interest for a higher profile at the event, Dubai's status as the hub of the automotive sector, in a region which is renowned for its high ratio of automobile ownership and use, has been underlined," he said.
Mr. bin Fahad noted that the Motor Show provides an ideal platform for automotive industry leaders to showcase their wares, latest developments and concepts in a market that is both big-spending and highly discerning.
This year's show is set to be the biggest and most comprehensive yet, with most of the big names of the industry already signed up to occupy more than 31,000 sq. m. of exhibition space in seven interconnected halls. More than 40 of the leading vehicle manufacturers and designers from Europe, the US and Asia will be exhibiting the latest in design and technology on offer worldwide.
General Motors' presence at the last edition of the Motor Show was an attention grabber with latest models of its Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Opel, Saab and Hummer line-ups on view.
Mr. Cnossen commented: "The Middle East International Motor Show is the premier auto event in the region and General Motors is pleased it will again be the major exhibitor."
General Motors, which has been in the Middle East for nearly 60 years, will present many of its new models for 2004 as well as exciting new concept vehicles.
Sales of GM vehicles in the region have climbed to more than 50,000 a year and the company anticipates these will grow to 100,000 within the next three years.
