Seminar on Enterprise Asset Management to be held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, June 17 - 2003 at 16:59
- PRESS RELEASE
Datastream and Intertec Systems are holding seminars to discuss Datastream solutions to assist companies in the management of asset information and maintenance activities.
Enterprise Asset Management Systems are designed to capture asset data and daily maintenance transactions and are solutions that are being increasingly explored by companies and government bodies in the emirates in the pursuit of organisational objectives. The Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS), for example, recently invested over Dh 1 million to optimise maintenance operations using Datastream's Asset Performance Management (APM) Solution.
"What makes a system strategic is the ability to actually use that data to make business and operational decisions. To achieve that you need to define processes, best practices and those critical key performance indicators. The ability to use data already captured in the Enterprise Asset Management to drive decisions is the core of Asset Performance Management," said Makhija.
In addition to DOHMS, Datastream's APM solutions are also being used among others, by Dubai World Trade Centre, the UAE Navy, Sharjah Municipality and Abu Dhabi Ship Building.
"The strong desire of a large number of organizations to achieve ISO certification means that these will need tools that will assist them in meeting and remaining in line with ISO specifications. At present, while people are becoming more aware of solutions that could help them, our estimate suggests that approximately 60 per cent of companies operating in the UAE are not employing any such tool", Makhija said.
Datastream, which offers the industry's only complete web-architected asset management system, provides APM solutions that can be used by almost any size of operation in any sector - from healthcare and oil & gas, to facilities management and transportation. It provides important features for assets, work, materials & purchasing management. In addition to data collection APIs, Datastream's messenger module and modules for multi-organisational security, projects' management, scheduling and commercial services, can be used in strategic planning and to answer operational questions.
