The Chicago-based healthcare company will be launching a revolutionary treatment for erectile dysfunction. The drug is proven to work much faster than its competitors, and with fewer side effects. The Abbott Laboratories stand will dedicate a large area to the health problem, offering visitors information about its new strategy to combat the condition.

This is the first major launch in the Middle East, and is sure to have a significant impact on the region's pharmaceutical business. A leading urologist from Canada, Professor Jeremy Heaton, is flying in to address groups of urologists and medical opinion leaders from the UAE. He is a Professor of Urology and a practicing clinical urologist at Kingston General Hospital and Queen's University, Kingston, Canada.

Professor Heaton will give a lecture 'A new strategy against Erectile Dysfunction' in Hall 8 of the World Trade Centre at 2pm on Monday, 28 January. All healthcare providers are welcome to attend.

Doctor Mohammed Istarabadi of Al Zahra Hospital, one of the UAE's leading urologists and a member of the American Board of Urology, will also address the medical group. Abbott Laboratories also has plans to transmit the seminar live to a number of other GCC locations.

"We are extremely excited about our participation in Arab Health, but particularly about the major announcement we will make at that time," said Ibrahim Aql, General

Manager, Abbott Laboratories, Gulf Region. "This treatment is taken sublingually, which means that it enters the bloodstream quickly. It enhances the body's natural responses, delivering a rapid onset of action, with minimal unwanted side effects. This makes it an ideal solution for many sufferers."

"We have already had a very positive response from the medical community, and Arab Health will give us the opportunity to increase awareness among opinion leaders of the benefits of this treatment."

The company will also be showcasing Reductil, a ground-breaking new weight management drug recently launched in the region. The Abbott stand will include a health clinic, with BMI testing and other weight-related facilities.

Reductil's active ingredient Sibutramine increases the feeling of satisfaction with smaller portions of food, thereby helping patients to eat less and lose weight as a result.
