Stemming from the humanitarian values it is committed to and as part of its belief in the importance of enhancing the principals of equal opportunities between different segments of society, Pepsi-Jordan - the winner of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence/Private Sector in 2009 - announced that it recently hosted a job fair for the disabled. The job fair aimed to support this segment's active involvement in society and to encourage them to apply to available positions at the company.
This initiative was carried out by Pepsi-Jordan as part of the company's belief in the importance of granting employment and wealth generating opportunities to the disabled in addition to offering them training programs that hone and develop their skills.
The initiative also targeted changing perceptions on the employment of disabled persons, focusing on the importance of finding the right person for the right job and selecting those with physical challenges based on their capabilities and experiences. Furthermore, the initiative highlighted the economic and social significance of hiring disabled persons and what positive impact this has on their own lives as well as their families and communities.
Commenting on this initiative, Mr. Sufian Salman, East Med and Africa HR Director at PepsiCo, said: "This open day stems from our belief that all individuals should receive employment opportunities that open the doors for professional development and for a more secure future, it is also part of our commitment as a private socially responsible company. We are pleased with the positive impact that we witnessed from the participants at the job fair."
It is worth noting that Medal, a Jordanian Management Consulting Company and AVSI played a central role in the success of this initiative and in enabling Pepsi-Jordan to select the best capabilities to be part of the team and its future success.
