Dubai 2003 Organising Committee to set up sub-committees
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, June 19 - 2003 at 09:43
- PRESS RELEASE
The Organising Committee of Dubai 2003 will shortly establish sub-committees to help finalise arrangements for the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund to be held in Dubai in September.
The new sub-committees would be able to quickly resolve any issues that are still pending with regard to the preparations now underway to host this prestigious event. The heads of the specialised committees have also been asked to prepare an overview of the work they have already done to be reviewed by members of the Dubai 2003 Steering Committee at their meeting on June 21.
During the 28th Organising Committee meeting, Mr. Sultan also reminded members of the need to comply with a directive issued by His Highness, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry suspending all leave and vacation for heads and members of all Committees of Dubai 2003 until after 23-24 September to avoid any disruption to the activities or work, and to encourage all members to perform their tasks with dedication. However, he said that in the event any committee head or member had to attend to some urgent work, he should nominate a representative to carry out the work in his absence.
Mr. Sultan noted that with the countdown to the Annual Meetings getting closer by the day, all members of the Organising Committee should give great importance to finishing their work on time to ensure the success of this prestigious event in September.
Members of the Organising Committee also discussed a Dubai 2003 exhibition that will be held at Dubai World Trade Centre during the Annual Meetings aimed at attracting world attention on the development projects and leading institutions in the region.
